Program Structure:

• The Public Services Diploma is a comprehensive qualification designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required for careers in various public service sectors.
• It encompasses a wide range of modules covering topics relevant to public services, including law enforcement, emergency services, military, and local government.
• The diploma provides a holistic understanding of the roles and responsibilities within public services, preparing learners for the diverse challenges they may encounter in their future careers.

Curriculum Content:

• The curriculum includes core modules essential for understanding the principles and practices of public services, such as government policies, public safety, ethics, and diversity.

Generally, applicants are expected to have a minimum level of academic achievement, typically including GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in relevant subjects.

14-19 years old in full-time study

• Centers assess the suitability of units for younger learners before delivery.
• Open to learners of all ages aspiring to progress in public services.
• Centers undertake an assessment of the relevance and appropriateness of course components for younger learners to ensure effective delivery and engagement

• Vocational units combined with optional units in learning skills and ‘green’ issues.
• Activities internally set by tutor/assessors.
• Learners’ portfolios of assessed evidence internally moderated at the Centre.
• External moderation conducted by OCN London External Moderator.
• Units not graded; learners either achieve or do not achieve.

Assessment:

• Activities designed to enable learners to meet unit assessment criteria.
• Portfolios of assessed evidence internally moderated at the Centre and externally moderated by OCN London.
• Units assessed against identified assessment criteria, judged as achieved or not achieved.
• Standardization events held periodically to ensure consistent assessment practice.
• Access to Fair Assessment Policy and Procedure for learners with particular requirements.
