Introduction:

Our qualification in Education and Training has been developed to conform to the requirements of the RQF, to meet the requirements of the sector and to respond to the needs of our centres.

The aims of this qualification are to provide an introduction to teaching and training for those considering working in the teaching profession, delivering training as part of their role or just beginning their careers in these fields. The qualification will develop knowledge, understanding and the skills needed to be successful in a teaching or training role. It may be undertaken by individuals who are not currently in a teaching/ training role.

Study Skills

In the Diploma in Health and Social Care the following study skills will be developed and learners will use them in their study and in preparing and writing the summative assignments.

 

               Critical thinking

               • Planning, organizing and time management

               • Research

               • Gathering information, note taking and summarising

               • Analysis

               • Oral and written skills

               • Academic skills, including referencing

               • Application of IT skills

               • Reflection

 

Aims

This qualification has been developed to conform to the requirements of the RQF, to meet the

requirements of higher education and employers and to meet the needs of learners.

Entry Requirements

·       Progressed from level 2

·       Learners must be aged 19 or above

·       they should be available to everyone who is capable of reaching the required standard

·       they should be free from any barriers that restrict access and progression

·       there should be equal opportunities for all those wishing to access the qualifications

·       5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above or Grade 4 and above

·       other equivalent international qualifications

·       For those whom English is not their first language we recommend the following standards of proficiency in English language skills or an approved equivalent for this qualification:

      IELTs 5.5

      Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B2

      Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 162 or above

      Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic 42-49

Progression:

·      the level 4 Certificate in Education and Training

·      the level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

·      other education and training related qualifications

Course Guidelines

The ATHE Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a 12-credit qualification. To be awarded this qualification, a learner must achieve a minimum of 12 credits. Three credits from Group A, six credits from Group B, and three credits from Group C. The rules of combination for this qualification are given below:

·      Mode of learning : full time/ part time /blended learning or distance learning

·       Credit Qualification: 12

·      Total Qualification Time(TQT) : 120

·      Total Guided Learning : 73 Hour

Assessment method:

·       research activity resulting in the compilation of a report

·      a research project

·      the compilation of a case study

·      a review and evaluation of a chosen country and organisation’s policies legislation and systems

·      presentation of information

·      production of training materials

·      the production of a portfolio of evidence

Qualification Grading Structure

Each unit is graded pass or fail. As well as receiving a grade for each individual unit learners will receive an overall grade for the qualification. Each unit is equally weighted.

To achieve a Pass grade for the qualification the learner must achieve a Pass for all the required units in the rules of combination.
